Branson Landing on Lake Taneycomo

For those who remember the early days of Branson, you might remember the area past Main Street on the banks of Lake Taneycomo looked quite a bit different. Boat docks and camps dotted much of the shoreline of the area; the scenery looked much different then with the shores of what once was a free flowing White River. As time passes, things wear down and the lakefront became a bit delapidated. Prior to 2006 some folks would have never envisioned the way it looks today. In 2006, The Branson Landing opened and a new era in Branson began.

About The Branson Landing

Folks come from all over to walk and take in the boardwalk property that shines in the night on the banks of Lake Taneycomo. Anchored by Bass Pro Shops and Belk on either end, there is about a mile long stretch of shops, restaurants, and attractions. In addition, there are two business/luxury class hotels. Hilton Pramanade, on the Landing, and Hilton Convention Center, right accross the street. It has become one of the more popular destinations for those local to Branson, as well as those who visit our city. The landscape has changed, but the Landing has become a fixture on the banks of the lake. It’s a beautiful walk and a great place to take in the nature that the Ozarks is famous for.

Something else that has become a fixture on the banks of Lake Taneycomo is Main Street Marina. There is no better place to relax after a long day of shopping. Derby Day at The Paddlewheel We have the perfect spot for you to take in a little Kentucky Derby Day tradition. The Paddlewheel on Main Street Marina is bringing this very special day to the Ozarks on the banks of Lake Taneycomo. Saturday, May 4th we will be bringing that excitement to you right out here on the dock! You can check out the Kentucky Derby with us right here on the BIG SCREEN The festivities will go on all day, and into the night!

Derby Day Tradition

There are few American sporting events with the history and popularity of the Kentucky Derby. It’s rich traditions – sipping a mint julep, donning a beautiful hat, and joining fellow race fans in singing “My Old Kentucky Home” – transcend the Kentucky Derby from just a sporting event, making it a celebration of southern culture and a true icon of Americana. The Kentucky Derby is the longest running sporting event in the United States, dating back to 1875. The race is often referred to as “The Run for the Roses®” and has continuously Let the horses run at Derby Day at The Paddlewheel produced “the most exciting two minutes in sports”. Uninterrupted, even when coinciding with profound historical events like The Great Depression and World Wars I & II.

Rock The Dock at The Paddlewheel with FunHouse One of the best bands in the area will be at The Paddlewheel to celebrate Derby Day. FunHouse, out of Springfield, will bring the music you like to get out on the dance floor. This isn’t your average bar band. FunHouse brings the Rock to this Dock. I can promise you that this will be one of those nights that Rock The Dock will truly live up to its name. They will begin at 8 PM

If you are looking for a good time The Paddlewheel is where you wanna be! As Spring approaches, the nights for live events increases. Bring your friends and hang out at Branson’s LARGEST Nightclub! You will have an opportunity to Rock The Dock most every night!

National Beer Days are April 6th and 7th! Mother’s Brewing Company will be releasing a special draft that will be offered only at The Paddlewheel this Spring! There will be great beer specials in addition to Rock The Dock the night of the 6th! It’s gonna be AMAZING!

Starting April 9th Kavebear Karaoke comes to the Paddlewheel! Now, you become the star every Tuesday night; come grab the mic and let it all hang out. There are always great drink features available to loosen up your vocal cords. Come out and check it out! It will always be a good time.

Do you know everything? We have just the night for you and your knowledgable friends. Each month Trivia night will take place. A great night with drink specials, prizes, and fun starting on April 15th! Come out and test your trivia skills at Let’s Get Trivial, against the best this area has to offer. Myers and Mooney will be your Quiz Czars, and trust me – They know things.

SHAMRock The Dock – St. Patrick’s Day Weekend

Branson’s LARGEST Nightclub is throwing a party so big, for St. Patrick’s Day weekend that is, so BIG, it’s going to take two days! SHAMRock the Dock has become one of the biggest celebrations in the area over the last few years and we are looking forward to seeing you at The Paddlewheel on Main Street Marina!

There will be a specialty drink and food menu, and Guinness Stout will be on tap along with other great local options. We will have a Photo Booth to catch all of those awesome memories. There will also be an appearance by those lucky little Blair leprechauns. But hey, size doesn’t really matter.

We have a great line up for entertainment over the SHAMRock the Dock weekend. Friday the 15th, we will feature DJ’s Rob and Scott. These guys are always a favorite when they come out to the dock. Saturday the 16th will include Fun House; one of the most popular bands in this region! There is always plenty of room on the dance floor for you and your friends.

At the Paddlewheel, we enjoy the rich history St Patrick’s Day has in the United States. We are happy to be a part of that tradition.

ST. PATRICK’S DEATH & THE FIRST ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE

Saint Patrick, who lived during the fifth century, is the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland. Born in Roman Britain, he was kidnapped and brought to Ireland as a slave at the age of 16. He later escaped, but returned to Ireland and was credited with bringing Christianity to its people. In the centuries following St. Patrick’s death (believed to have been on March 17, 461), the mythology surrounding his life became ever more ingrained in the Irish culture: Perhaps the most well-known legend is that he explained the Holy Trinity using the three leaves of a native Irish clover, the shamrock.

Since around the 9th or 10th century, people in Ireland have been observing the Roman Catholic feast day of St. Patrick on March 17. Interestingly, however, the first parade held to honor St. Patrick’s Day took place not in Ireland but in the United States. On March 17, 1762, Irish soldiers serving in the English military marched through New York City. Along with their music, the parade helped the soldiers reconnect with their Irish roots, as well as with fellow Irishmen serving in the English army.

America is filled with many amazing traditions for St Patrick’s Day, including dyed green waterways, and fabulous parades. Even if you don’t have any Irish heritage, many just enjoy their short-lived Irishness once a year.
